How to Measure Your Space for an Indoor Golf Simulator Setup

August 18, 2025

Not sure how to size up your room for a golf simulator? We’re here to guide you every step of the way—from checking your space, to taking the right measurements, to sharing images so our team can help confirm the best fit before you buy.

Step 1: Review the Diagrams
On each product page, you’ll find detailed dimensional diagrams that outline the space requirements for every model in our Parlour and Vanish Series enclosures. These are the best place to start when assessing your room.

Step 2: Understand Your Options
Sometimes more than one model might fit your space, and you’ll want to know which is the most ideal. Other factors—like garage rails, beams, windows, or ceiling obstacles—can also affect your setup. That’s where our team comes in!

Step 3: Share Your Space Details with us at info@thesportscreen.ca
When you reach out to us, providing clear information up front helps us give you the fastest and most accurate recommendations. Please include:

  • Photos or a short video of your space (showing where you’d like to mount, with visibility of walls, ceiling, or other mounting surfaces)
  • Room width where you plan to mount
  • Room height where you plan to mount

If your setup is near garage rails, please also provide:

  • Inside-to-inside garage door rail width
  • Wall-to-rail distance
  • Floor-to-rail height
  • Ceiling-to-top-of-rail measurement

(See the diagram below for a visual guide to needed room dimensions.)

We’re always happy to help—just send us your info and we’ll work with you to find the best fit for your golf simulator setup!

Real Customer Conversation: Confirming the Best Vanish Golf Studio for Their Space

James / Customer

Hi SportsScreen Team,

I'm preparing to install a golf simulator in my double-car garage and came across your products through a golf forum post.

Before moving forward with the Vanish 16H, I was hoping to confirm a few details to ensure a smooth installation and avoid any surprises. I've taken the liberty of recording a quick walkthrough video - see attached.

  • Based on the layout and dimensions shown in the aforementioned video, do you foresee any installation or setup issues—particularly with the Vanish 16H fitting beneath the raised garage door brackets?
  • Would you recommend mounting the four support brackets to the ceiling, the walls, or a combination of both?
  • For powering the retractable motors (especially the side screens), should I plan for power outlets on both sides of the screen, or is one outlet on the left side (where my garage door opener is) sufficient?

Thanks in advance for your guidance. Looking forward to getting this setup underway!

Hi James,

Thank you for your email. We are excited to be a part of your golf sim journey!

Really appreciate you sending over that video of your space along with the commentary. Massive help!

Please see my responses highlighted in red to your listed questions:

  1. Based on the layout and dimensions shown in the aforementioned video, do you foresee any installation or setup issues—particularly with the Vanish 16H fitting beneath the raised garage door brackets? Based on your dimensions of the floor to rail and rail to rail, this space will be a very nice fit for the Vanish 16H. It will fit bellow the garage door rails, no problem.
  2. Would you recommend mounting the four support brackets to the ceiling, the walls, or a combination of both? I would recommend mounting to the walls, as you can mount the versatile mounting brackets into your 16” studs and not have to worry about measuring out the ceiling studs and drop down on the outside of the garage door rails. The wall mount would completely take the rails out of play.
  3. For powering the retractable motors (especially the side screens), should I plan for power outlets on both sides of the screen, or is one outlet on the left side (where my garage door opener is) sufficient? I would recommend installing power in both corners of your garage as mentioned in your video. This will help with cord management and assure that each cord can easily reach power without any issues.

Overall, your space seems like an excellent fit for the Vanish 16H. I just wanted to confirm one dimension that I do not believe was provided. Could you please let me know what the wall-to-wall width of the garage is?

I hope this helps and look forward to your thoughts. If you have any more questions, feel free to reach out and I would be happy to help. 😊

James / Customer

Hey there,

Thanks for the confirmation, made my week!

1) 216" from wall to wall (left/right walls)

2) Roughly 210" from screen to back wall (front/back)

Looking forward to suggested next steps, I can purchase online as needed. Thanks again!

The SportScreen / info@ customer email

Good morning James,

The wall-to-wall dimension of your garage is a little wide for our standard 16H. Not a problem! Since you would be doing the wall mount, you could use the 24” pieces that normally isn’t used for wall mount configuration, instead of the 11.5” aluminum pieces.

You can place your order through our website. Please let me know if you have any other questions or would like some clarification on the wall mount configuration. Happy to help.
